Prof. dr. Patrick Luyten

Patrick Luyten, PhD is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Department of Psychology, University of Leuven (Belgium), and Senior Lecturer at the Research Department of Clinical, Educational, and Health Psychology, University College London (UK). His research interests focus on the role of personality, attachment, and stress in depression, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, and on the role of attachment and mentalization in personality disorders. He is currently also involved in several studies evaluating the efficacy of mentalization based interventions in these conditions. He is a member of the Research Advisory Board and the Conceptual and Empirical Research Committee of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA), and serves on the editorial board of several scientific journals, including Psychotherapy: Theory, Research, Practice, Training, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, and Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology. He is also in private practice.
